О фильме: Марина Романова заведует хирургическим отделением областной больницы. Ее брак с врачом-анестезиологом Вадимом Беловым можно назвать счастливым, хотя на самом деле он тяготится, что его жена занимает более высокую ступень во врачебной иерархии. И если Марина мечтает о материнстве, то Вадим – о карьере. Вдобавок в больнице появляется новый главврач – Светлана Акулова, бывшая однокурсница Марины. Сначала она отнимает у Марины Вадима, соблазнив высокой должностью, а потом и вовсе обвиняет Марину в преступлении – фатальной врачебной ошибке, из-за которой известнейший спортсмен-мотогонщик Борис Авилов стал инвалидом. Марина оказывается сначала на скамье подсудимых, затем в тюрьме. Оказавшись на свободе, Марина пытается вернуться к работе, но ее не берут даже с погашенной судимостью. Тогда Марина устраивается сиделкой и берется поставить на ноги инвалида Авилова, на которого махнули рукой врачи и бросила молодая жена. Шаг за шагом она движется к цели. Сможет ли она вернуть его к жизни? И готова ли, что он узнает, какую роль сыграла в его судьбе?
